Timed on a 20 oz tumbler with the Talon Pro rotary. Engrave time only. About 10 wraps in an 8 hour day becomes about 55. Your real number moves with load, focus and buff time, but the ratio holds.
It is not just tumblers. It is anything you already finished.
With no bed and no enclosure you set the finished part down, mark it, and pick it up. No jig, no fixture, no cutting it out first.
The job this machine was bought for. Load the cup, run the file, buff it out. A full wrap that takes 45 minutes on a Titan, Bolt or Nova Plus comes off the Galvo in about 10.

It will get through thin stock, but if the job is cutting, that belongs on a Nova, Bolt or Titan. This machine is for putting a mark on something that is already finished. Fast, and a lot of them.
Two of these are not really optional.

The Galvo has no enclosure. Nothing contains what comes off the work, and what comes off a powder coated tumbler is not sawdust. It is burned coating, and you are standing over it. The 4 inch exhaust fan and flange in the crate handle a duct run outside. The Thunder Air 700 is what you want when you cannot duct out, or would rather not push shop air into your neighbor’s parking lot.
- 412 CFM at 4,000 Pa. Enough static pressure to actually pull through five stages.
- Five stages, in order: washable stainless pre-screen, G4 coarse dust, F8 for 2.5 to 5 micron, MOF carbon and H11 for the VOCs, then H13 HEPA at 99.99%.
- The carbon layer is the one that matters here. Coating and adhesive smell is gas, not dust, and a HEPA filter alone will not touch it.
- It moves. Wheel it between the Galvo and whatever else you run.

What it is built for
- Full wrap tumblers and drinkware, all day. That is the job.
- Engraving finished products: wallets, business cards, pre-cut hat patches, coasters, cutting boards, journals, keychains, pens.
- Parts too tall, long or awkward for an enclosed bed.
- Adding speed next to a Nova, Bolt or Titan you already own.
What it is not
- A cutter. It is not designed to cut. It gets through thin stock, but work you actually need cut belongs on a Nova, Bolt or Titan.
- A metal marker. Bare steel, aluminum, brass and titanium need a fiber source. That is the Aurora.
- A large format machine. Art wider than 11.81 inches needs tiling or a rotary.
Read this part before you buy FDA CLASS 4
An open frame means no enclosure and no door interlock. That is what makes the machine useful, and it is also what makes it a Class 4 laser. The beam is accessible while it runs.
In practice: everyone in the room wears the OD 5+ goggles that ship with it, the machine gets its own dedicated space rather than a corner of a busy shop, and the key comes out of the switch when you walk away. Not for a classroom, and not for running unattended. If that does not fit your shop, the optional enclosure closes the frame in. How long does a full-wrap tumbler take?
About 10 minutes, depending on tumbler size and how detailed the file is. A 20 oz tumbler with the Talon Pro rotary ran 8 minutes 10 seconds in our video. The same job takes roughly 45 minutes on a Titan, Bolt, or Nova Plus.
Can it cut?
It is not designed to cut. It will get through thin stock, but the job this machine is built for is engraving things that are already finished: tumblers, wallets, hat patches, coasters, business cards. If you need real cutting, that is a Nova, Bolt, or Titan.
Do I need a rotary?
For tumblers and drinkware, yes. We run the Talon Pro Galvo Chuck and recommend buying it with the machine. Every timing we publish was measured on it. The rotary interface is built in, the rotary itself is sold separately.
Do I need the Thunder Air 700?
You need extraction of some kind. This machine has no enclosure, so nothing contains the smoke. The 4″ exhaust fan, duct, and bell-mouth flange in the crate cover a run to the outside. If you cannot duct outside, or you are marking powder-coated drinkware all day and want the coating smell out of the room, the Air 700 is what we pair with it.
Can it mark metal?
Coated metal, yes: anodized, powder-coated, and painted surfaces mark cleanly, as does bare metal prepped with a marking spray. Bare metal on its own needs a fiber laser, which is the Aurora series.
How is this different from my Nova or Bolt?
Your Nova and Bolt move a laser head across a gantry inside an enclosed bed. The CO2 Galvo steers the beam with mirrors and has no enclosure at all. It fills an engraving far faster and it has no size limit, but it marks an 11.81 inch field per pass and it is not built for thick cutting. Most shops run it alongside what they already own.
Does it need special power or a chiller?
No. It runs on standard 110 V with a dedicated 15 A breaker, and it is air cooled, so there is no chiller to buy, plumb, or maintain.
Does it work with LightBurn?
Yes. A LightBurn license is included with the machine, same as the rest of our line. EZCAD2 is supported as well. If you already run LightBurn on a Nova or Bolt, the workflow carries straight over.
How much space do I need?
The machine is 20.28″ x 36.61″ x 34.25″ and weighs 97.4 lbs. Because it is an open-frame Class 4 machine, plan on a dedicated area rather than a shared bench, with clearance for oversized parts and room for the exhaust run.
What does it cost and when can I get one?
The Thunder CO2 Galvo is $8,350 and it launches October 1, 2026. The first production run is limited. Add your name on this page and we will tell you the day it goes live, before it is on the store.
What does shipping cost?
Shipping on the machine is a flat $300 anywhere in the lower 48. Alaska, Hawaii, and outside the US are quoted case by case, and your rep will confirm freight on a rotary or an Air 700 going out with it.
