What do the Red LED Lights on the Ruida Controller Mean for Nova, Nova Plus, Bolt, Odin, Titan Lasers etc
Explains what each red LED light on the Ruida controller means for Thunder Laser Nova, Nova Plus, Bolt, Odin, and Titan machines.
Preface: This article covers what the Red LED Lights on the Ruida controller mean and some basic information about them. Just because you see a red light on, off or blinking, it does not necessarily mean that there is an issue.

LED1 - LmtX-
This is the X axis endstop input. This LED will be illuminated Red if the controller is receiving the X axis Endstop input. If the LED is illuminated but the laser head is not to the Left in the home position then you may have an issue with the X axis endstop. X and Y Endstop Tests for Nova and Nova Plus or X and Y Endstops Tests for Bolts
LED2 - LmtX+
Not used on the Thunder Laser machines. Please email [email protected] if this LED is illuminated
LED3 - LmtY-
This is the Y axis endstop input. This LED will be illuminated Red if the controller is receiving the Y axis Endstop input. If the LED is illuminated but the laser head is not to the Back in the home position then you may have an issue with the Y axis endstop. X and Y Endstop Tests for Nova and Nova Plus or X and Y Endstops Tests
LED4 - LmtY+
Not used on the Thunder Laser machines. Please email [email protected] if this LED is illuminated
LED5 - LmtZ-
This is the Z axis upper endstop\AutoFocus sensor input on Nova and Odin machines. This LED will be illuminated Red if the controller is receiving the Z axis upper endstop\AutoFocus eye input. If the LED is illuminated but the honeycomb is not to the most upper position (or material, head, object blocking the eyes) then you may have an issue with the Z axis endstop\Autofocus Eyes. Testing Z Axis Endstops and Z Axis Honeycomb Bed will not Raise or GO UP or only Goes Down until it reached the bottom
LED6 - LmtZ+
This is the Z axis lower endstop. This LED will be illuminated Red if the controller is receiving the Z axis lower endstop. If the LED is illuminated but the honeycomb is not to the lower most position then you may have an issue with the Z axis lower endstop. The protection for ZLimit- only occurs if the sensor is activated while the Honeycomb is being jogged down so a stuck sensor will not prevent the bed from lowering to the mechanical limit. Testing Z Axis Endstops
LED7 - Ulmt-
Not used on the Nova and Odin series machines. Please email [email protected] if this LED is illuminated.
For the Bolt, Nova Plus and Titan Series machines, this is the AF sensor that is activated by the plunger/tip sensor. The LED should be on when the sensor is not pressed and then off when the plunger is pressed.
LED8 - Ulmt+
Not used on the Thunder Laser machines. Please email [email protected] if this LED is illuminated
LED9 - WP1
Water Protection input from the Chiller. This LED should be illuminated if your chiller is on, not alarming and connected. Without this LED, you will get a water protect error. Alarm message of LCD panel-Water error and Chiller Alarm signal and Cable Troubleshooting guide for Water Protect Error. This is only applicable if you have a Chiller.
Not used on the Odin series machines. Please email [email protected] if this LED is illuminated
LED10 - WP2
Not generally used on Thunder Laser machines. Please email [email protected] if this LED is illuminated. This is only applicable if you have a Chiller.
If you have swapped to using the Channel 2 output on a Nova, then you may have this LED instead of LED9.
LED11 - Act
Activity light, should blink when the controller is receiving information from a data connection
LED12 - Link
More information to come
LED13 - Err
Error LED. The controller has an error and needs troubleshooting. Please email [email protected]
LED14 - Run
This LED should slowly blink when the controller is powered up and running.
LED15 +5V
Should be illuminated when the controller is on else the 5V output has failed.
